A recent Gilani poll conducted by Gallup Pakistan shows that, despite the fact that many people in Pakistan smoke, majority (91%) agrees that smoking can deteriorate health a lot or at least somewhat, while only 5% disagree and 4% are unsure. As for attitude towards narcotics addicts, a vast majority (70%) believes in showing concern for them by providing proper treatment, 16% claim addicts should be penalized, while only 9% say they should be left on their own and 6% are unsure.
The recent Gilani poll was conducted in Pakistan by Gallup Pakistan, affiliated with Gallup International Association, among a sample of 2622 men and women from rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during January 2010.
