30% Pakistanis want Hilary, 14% Obama and 8% McCain

According to a survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, every second Pakistani has a view on American Presidential hopefuls with Hillary Clinton on top scoring 30% followed by Barack Obama at 14% and John McCain at 8%. The remaining 48% were unable to give a view, which is quite understandable given the complexities of the American primaries. When asked who would you like to win in the next American elections, only 13% supported the party of President Bush, 37% wished his opponents, the Democratic Party, to win while the remaining 50% did not give a view.

The findings are based on a survey carried out among a nationally representative sample of men and women in the rural and urban areas of all four provinces in Pakistan, comprising a cross-section of all age, income and socio-economic groups. The sample size was 1416 and the fieldwork was carried out during March 9-10, 2008. The survey was conducted face to face and the error margin for a survey of this kind is approximately 3-5 % at 95% confidence level
